E3 Showing
for Curse.
At this year’s E3 Curse - The Eye of
Isis had a prominent showing and was
extremely well received. Publisher Wanadoo had splashed out on
an
eye-catching stand in the shape of an Egyptian Temple complete
with model
scarabs, a life-size mummy, and an interactive rat, which squeaked
when you
squeezed it! Developer Asylum Entertainment provided demos, and
people were
invited to play a Beta version on PS2.
There was a lot of interest in the game and
visitors to the stand were
enthusiastic on hearing about its features such as the Victorian
theme, male
and female player characters, evolved survival horror game play,
strong
storyline and the Curse entity. The delights of torching mummies
with a
Victorian flamethrower and the horrors of cursed human attacks
were among
excerpts of the game demonstrated, and glimpses of some of the
cool boss
characters whetted people’s appetites.
There was positive feedback from all sections
of the game world. People
found the ideas behind Curse new and refreshing in a show where
formulaic
titles dominate. There was particular enthusiasm for the way in
which Curse
builds on the strengths of existing survival horror such as ammo
management,
and addresses some of the criticisms of previous offerings such
as poor
character control and lack of story.
All in all a highly successful showing for
Curse which augurs well for its
release this autumn.
